Degree in Mathematics in 1978 at the University of Trento under the supervision of H. Beirão da Veiga, Researcher in Mathematical Analysis in 1984 (Univ. of Trento), Associate Professor in Mathematical Analysis in 1988 (Univ. of Padova, transferred to the Univ. of Pisa in 1992), Ordinary Professor in Mathematical Analysis in 1994 (Univ. of Basilicata, transferred to the Univ. of Brescia in 1996).
He has been local coordinator of the national research projects COFIN 1998, COFIN 2000 and PRIN 2007, national coordinator of one national research project PRIN 2005, coordinator of local research projects, supervisor of postDoc fellowships, organizer and in the scientific committee of meetings and advanced schools.
His scientific activity concerns the partial differential equations, in particular the Navier-Stokes and Euler equations of motion of viscous and inviscid, compressible and incompressible fluids, the equations of Magneto-Hydrodynamics and the symmetric hyperbolic systems with characteristic boundary.
Topics have been addressed such as the existence and uniqueness of solutions, the regularity, the continuous dependence on the data, the asymptotic behavior, in particular in the case of domains with boundary.
Author of more than 60 articles published on national and international scientific journals. He has delivered about 60 seminars and lectures in several Italian
Universities and in China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic,
Russia, Switzerland, USA.
Visiting professor at the M.R.C. of Madison (Wisconsin) in 1985, the Saarbrücken University in 1990, the
Nara Womens' University of Nara and Waseda University of Tokyo in 1998, the Laboratoire Paul Painlevé of Lille in 2005, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010.
